2202 Bldg A, 189 Panhuo Road, Ningbo, Zhejiang, China 315105 +86-574-8281 8485 [email protected] www.riwaygroup.com Founded in 2009, Riway Group is a manufacturer of wipes headquartered in Ningbo, Zhejiang, China. The company’s primary products include wipes for baby care, medical, cosmetic, industrial, personal care, household cleaning and cars, among others. Recently, Riway expanded into wet toilet paper, cotton soft tissues, face masks and pet wipes. Currently, Riway has 26 production lines and began adding two new production lines at the end of 2023. Its products are supplied globally, with the main distribution currently in the U.S., Europe and Australia. It also has plans to expand into Southeast Asian markets such as Japan, South Korea and India. According to the company, the market for baby wipes and cosmetic wipes is experiencing rapid growth. “Concerning baby wipes, from the demand side, there is a continuous increase in global parental awareness of infant care, driven by parents seeking portable and convenient baby care products due to the pursuit of women’s careers worldwide,” says Riway Group’s president Mr. David Duan.” From the supply side, diversity and innovation in global baby wipes brands, new formulations, biodegradable materials and innovations such as natural organic ingredients contribute to market growth. From a marketing perspective, the rise of e-commerce and digital retail, coupled with social media marketing, facilitates the rapid global dissemination of baby wipes.” In the wet wipes market, the importance of environmental sustainability is increasingly prominent. Currently, sustainability involves not only the composition of the product but also considers the impact on various aspects of the entire product life cycle and production processes, according to Duan. “Firstly, wet wipes manufacturers need to focus on the selection of raw materials,” he says. “Choosing environmentally friendly and renewable materials, such as biodegradable fibers, bamboo fibers, wood pulp fibers, cotton fibers, etc., is a crucial step towards sustainability. This helps reduce dependence on finite resources and minimizes the environmental burden. Secondly, the sustainability of the production process is also crucial. Adopting production processes with high energy efficiency and minimal waste generation, such as using clean energy, helps reduce adverse environmental impacts during the manufacturing stage. Finally, the degradability of the product and the environmental friendliness of the packaging are also important considerations. Consumers are increasingly concerned about the disposal of products after use. Therefore, wet wipes manufacturers should consider introducing more easily degradable products while optimizing packaging to reduce the use of plastics and other non-biodegradable materials.” Riway has always adhered to the concept of “green, low-carbon and eco-friendly,” consistently staying at the forefront of the market’s attention to sustainable development in the wet wipes industry. On the production side, Riway installed a photovoltaic power generation system on its factory roof in 2022, utilizing clean energy. On the product side, Riway has introduced various biodegradable wet wipes since its establishment, gaining praise from consumer markets. By the end of this year, sales of biodegradable products are expected to account for 70% of the company’s total sales, Duan says. Additionally, Riway continues to collaborate with green suppliers, seeking biodegradable materials for product and packaging. Moreover, Riway holds various international certifications or certificates related to environmental protection, such as USDA Organic, ECOCERT, FSC, ISO14001, Nordic Swan Ecolabel, etc. Therefore, Riway believes that in response to the ongoing demand for sustainable products, it will continue to meet consumer desires and lead the consumer market. “Presently, consumer demand for convenience, hygiene and portability is driving the overall growth of the wet wipes market,” Duan says. “This is particularly evident in the health and personal care sector, where convenient wet wipe products are widely used. Consumers are increasingly focusing on the quality and materials of the products. Manufacturers are continuously introducing biodegradable materials and products with natural ingredients. Therefore, it is a good time to enter the wet wipes market.”
